Project: Making Connections: The Global Dimension and Minorities
Main Duties:
This is a three year project supported by the Department for International Development (DfID) which aims to raise the level of knowledge and understanding of global issues within the minority ethnic population across Northern Ireland to enhance their engagement with international development which will in turn promote a positive engagement with the wider society. The project also seeks to strengthen links between the minority ethnic and development sectors through its main activities, which include:
Capacity Building: Development and delivery of an accredited training programme tailored to the minority ethnic population and practitioners from the sector; and provision of post-course mentoring to course participants.
Networking: Strengthening of working relations and links between the minority ethnic population and development organisations in Ireland, England, Scotland Wales, and across Europe; Support of the work of existing minority ethnic networks in Northern Ireland; Organisation of an annual conference to support sharing of good practice and networking in development education in the minority ethnic sector.
Resources: Development of a web site to support all aspects of project delivery including promotion of events, resources and good practice to support development education practice within the minority ethnic sector.
