The Centre's position of Information Officer is filled by a full-time volunteer from EIRENE, an international peace and development organization which sends volunteers to countries throughout the world. EIRENE volunteers have been coming to Ireland in increasing numbers in recent years to work with community, peace, development and human rights organizations. The Centre has had five EIRENE placements since 2000 who volunteer with us for a year and work in our library. All of the volunteers have been extremely capable and enthusiastic individuals with a strong interest in development education. They carry out an important role in the Centre in managing the resource base and dealing with public enquiries for information on development issues.

Main Duties:

• Dealing with public enquiries in the Centre's resource base
• Managing stock and requisitioning new resources in development education
• Managing the Centre's membership scheme and ensuring that members are updated on our activities
• Compiling and disseminating a monthly E-Bulletin (newsletter sent out by e-mail) to members, development NGOs, partner organisations, teachers, schools, youth and community groups and educators
• Promoting the Centre at conferences and outside events with the use of stalls and exhibitions
